College Magazine Cover 2 Annotations

Magazine cover 2

The front cover of the magazine has a large, yellow masthead that contradicts with the dark, black background behind it. The masthead of the magazine is very straightforward and uncomplicated which helps the reader understand what the magazine is about.

The Man on the front cover hides some of the masthead which seems to be theme of most of the magazines but again this has no effect on how the reader reacts towards the layout. This was no problem but the masthead is so simple that again the reader can understand what the magazine should be about.

The main audience should still be college students and people thinking about going to college but by using the man on the cover instead of a using a woman the audience may be different. In my opinion the stereotypical college student does not look like the man on the front of the page and so i do not believe that this character works in drawing in the stereotypical smart college student.

A major concern for the creator of this magazine would be the same as the last, how to make it eye catching enough to entice all readers into reading the magazine so on the cover there is a very interesting man that may make many females enjoy looking at the cover, standing in plain view (also a long shot) and as he is wearing up to date clothes this may make the students believe that if they go to college then they may be as sociable as this cover boy.

The black background makes it easy for the masthead and the cover lines to be seen as the yellow combines with the black to make a bright and dull eye catching magazine cover. The yellow writing sticks out and makes it easy to read.
