I opened photoshop to edit the photograph i will use for my trailer. The first thing i decided to was use the quick select tool in order to copy the person in the image (Abi) on to a blank canvas. This means that i am able to change the colour of the background to anything i desire. this also means that i can move the body around in order to find the position i want the model. This means that i am able to choose how much negative space i want in the image. The advantage of having negative space in the photograph means that the eyes of the viewer are drawn to the model as it gives a sence of space and also gives focus to the model. A disadvantage of having negative space is that the focal point of the photograph (Abi) could look lonely and boring. this means I have to choose where to place my model in order to change the affect i have on a particular audience.
I then coppied the model on to a white background and moved her around to find out where on the page she would look best. I then decided she would look best in the origional position I had her in. This means that the audience are drawn to the model and may want to read more.
After this i then painted the background black. This was decided as i am creating a Rock music magazine. This means that most colours are dark and so black seemed to fit the best.
After painting the whole of the background black i then had to paint around the body in black to make the photo look neater and less likely to look like it has been cut and pasteed on top of the background.
