The front cover of the magazine has a large masthead that is hidden by one of the men in the main image. The magazine is generally quite bright and colourful, using the colours red and green to draw the intended audience in. The masthead is very simple but looks less visible than the masthead in the first magazine. This may affect the perception the readers have upon the magazine. This is because the lead, in the band is standing in the middle of the magazine. If i was to change this image i would have the lead singer in the band, in front of the other two, but would have him standing in front of the 'Q'. This is because this would show leadership and would also show how the lead singer in the band has the power to block out the title of the magazine. I would also make the two men by the sides of him smaller by comparison to further emphasise his leadership and to attract the intended audience to him straight away.
The vacant space on the magazine may draw the audience in as you only have one or two things to look at. This helps the intended audience relate to the magazine, as it shows how simple the magazine is and how simple life could be. This could also suggest that the more space there is, the more fun the magazine could be, as it does not rush you into reading everything it has to offer. It is simple which shows this magazine is calmer. This means that whoever reads the magazine might not be as hardcore and rock music mad as the audience of Kerrang, This magazine makes it easier to interact with as the format is simpler, with less text so the reader can find out all the information they need to in order for them to gain the knowledge they need. The way the cover is laid out could represent the type of people in the magazine and this could attract some potential readers, like the last magazine.
The skyline in this magazine uses a catchy phrase to draw the reader in. This make the target audience read the sky line "THE UK's BIGGEST MUSIC MAGAZINE" and think that they are reading a good popular magazine. This could help me make my magazine as this is eye-catching and will draw my readers in. The conventions of this magazine are useful as this is a popular magazine that many people read. I like the skyline this magazine has used. Especially like the colours used, as they contrast with each other. The black and white add a good affect to the skyline. I will try to create a catchy slogan which will attract the reader, i would also like to make the slogan fun so that my audience can have a but of fun with the magazine.
The intended audience should be people who like listening to different types of music or people that research music too. The readers are less likely to be "rule breakers" like the first magazine and would just read specific articles at their leisure. The audiene can then see what they should expect when visiting a concert and about bands in question, which is usually what every music magazine informs the reader about. I want to make sure that my intended audience can find all the information they need in a clear and simple manner without forcing the information upon the reader.
The magazine does not have smaller images, like the last magazine did, which helps portray the magazine as being simple and more organised. There are not too many focal points on the page, there is only the main image which relates to the main story in the magazine. This could help attract my audience but could also make the intended audience dis-attracted as they will have to read more to find out who is in the magazine. Many people just want to look at a magazine and find out all the information they need to.
The only things i would change on the cover of this magazine is where the bar code is positioned and where the masthead is as i don't believe that this follows the conventions of a regular magazine. The bar code should be in a bottom corner of the magazine and the masthead should be more towards the middle of the magazine. I like the way the sell lines are positioned but i may change this in my magazine to make them on the other side of the page as to not distract the view from the main image.
