This contents page seems to be plain and boring like the last. This contents page is for the magazine NME which is a magazine on indie rock, punk rock and alternative rock music. As this magazine is about rock music the colours on the contents page are darker like the last contents page. These colours will relate the magazine to the audience. As the stereotypical audience for the magazine is people who enjoy listening to light rock music. The dark colours will help each person relate to the magazine.
The layout of the contents page is compact but unconventional as it looks more like a newspaper. This layout seems to be boring and crammed with too much information and because the magazine has a target audience of teenagers, which do not usually read newspapers, they may find this contents page uninteresting to look at. There is only one image on this page. This is so that the image is of a large scale so that the viewer can see the image up close. This makes the reader see the image and think that the page looks more appealing and therefore would make the reader continue looking at the magazine. This is an unconventional double page spread. This is because there is one large image with a small amount of text to surround it. On a usual double page spread there would be more text and more smaller images to surround the text. The text would be to inform the reader about the band but in this case the image does this and the text just enforces the message of the image. This could suggest that the band speaks for themselves or could suggest that as the band may not need to be explained as their music speaks for itself. However this is for the audience to interpret. I may only use one image for my double page spread so that the audience will not get bored reading a lot of text. From experiance double page spreads of magizines are often used as posters so reducing the text on these pages increases the sellability factor of the magazine.
The lack of colour on these pages could suggest that the band is serious. As the colours grey, black and red are the main colours used on this page the style of the band are portrayed through these colours. The band is old and so is the music they play. This is why the colours in the magazine are dull, looking as if they are from the past. This may attract more readers because they can see what type of music the magazine portrays by the colours used. If the reader understands what the colours mean then they can see that the song is old and know if they like it or not.
Red is the most commonly used colour in most magazines and this makes the magazines appropriate for all readers. The colours in the magazine are not one sided and so this makes the magazine more popular to all different types of readers. The colour red and the small amount of blue on the double page spread stands out against the dull background which makes the colours even more outstanding. I like how the image has been used as there is only a small amount of colour on this double page spread which adds to the affect.
The thing i would change if this was my magazine would be to add a little more text to the left hand side of the page and let the text overlap the picture more so that more of the text could fit on the page. this also make the image look more centred on the spread and may attract the audience more. I think that if there is too much or not enough text then the reader would get unintrested and so i would have to find the correct balance.
This double page spread is much more condensed than the last. This seems to be a more conventional double page spread. This is because there is one large image generally centered within the spread, with two smaller images that surround the corners of the page. There is more text on this page which seems to make the magazine more interesting as the images on the page are explained. Too much text on the magazine could put the reader off so i must find the right amount of text when i make my double page spread. On a usual double page spread there would be more text and more smaller images to surround the text and this is what this magazine double page spread has done. The text would be to inform the reader about the band and the images on these pages would show what the text is about. You would still have to read this magazine to find what it is about though.
This double page spread is so different to the last one as this one has more colour on it. The lack of colour on the last double page spread suggested that the band is serious. But this band seems to be having more fun. This could be shown through the use of colour or because the images are of the band rehearsing, which shows that the band don't mind being disturbed during their rehearsals as they are having fun doing them. The style of the bands are completely different. This is shown through each image. The first double page spread has only one image which could suggest they don't have as much time for photographs. This doulbe page spread has multipul images which suggests they have more time to have there photographs taken.

How the questionnaire helped me create my magazine.
when creating my magazine I followed the information used in my questionnaire to find out what type of people listen to different types of music. When creating my questionnaire i missed out some questions that may have been useful in my investigation. These include: How often you would buy a music magazine? And what gender you are? These questions may have helped me find out what gender most people who listen to rock music are, which then could help me decide who should be on the cover of the magazine.
I found out that many people aged 16-20 like listening to 3-4 hours or more music a day. The questionnaire told me that many people liked listening to pop music or RnB but rock music came up quite a lot as well. i chose to make a rock magazine as i listen to rock music, and read rock music magazines and so i know what the layout of what a rock music magazine would look like. This is why i made my magazine about rock music.
I followed most of the advice given to me through the questionnaire as i wanted the magazine to relate to what people wanted. By doing this i know that most people that read my magazine will be happy with the layout and context of the magazine. By following the most of the advice given, i should have the most popular audience for the magazine possible.
I finally decided to make my magazine for teenagers as most teenagers read music magazines more often then adults. Most teenagers are also willing to spend more on the magazine they buy, which suggests that buy selling my magazine to teenagers i should make more profit than if i was selling my magazine to adults.

This should be what my music magazine cover should look like. I would have one person in the main image on the cover of my magazine and would then have smaller images at the bottom of the magazine. This would tell my audience that the person in my main image would be the biggest star and most written about in my magazine. The smaller images would tell my audience more about who else would be in my magazine and even though they are not as popular as the person in the main image, if the audience want to read about them, then they can as they know they are in the magazine.The name of the band/ singer would go straight through the middle of the main image so that my audience will be able to tell who the main image is of. This would also attract my target audience to read about the band/ singer because this would make the main story in my magazine stand out. The overlapping text on the magazine connects everything to the page. This makes the magazine look more professional and connects the images to the text and makes the magazine look more natural and less organised. This is important in the rock magazine as it shows more spontaneity and makes the reader less attracted as the magazine seems more exciting and intriguing.

The information will surround the images on the contents page making it easy for the audience to find what they are looking for. The images surrounding the text would tell my audience more about who would be in my magazine. the contents page title would be set up in the same way as the covers's masthead. this is so the magazine has a constant throughout the magazine. the colour scheme of the cover and contents page would be the same as well this would also create a colour balance between the magazine. This would make the magazine look better as colours are not 'jumping out' from every corner of the magazine and would not distract the audience from the intentions of the magazine, which is to inform and to make fun for those who are int rested.

Analysis of different font styles
- Arial- This font seems to be boring and would not grab my intended target audience and draw them in. This looks like you would write up an important document with this style of font.
- Courier-this font seemed to look better but i would not use this on my magazine as even though it looks a bit more fun it looks like the style of text a type writer uses and so this does not grab the readers attention.
- Georgia- This style of text does not grab the readers attention. i want to use a style of text that stands out and does not blend in with the page. rock music is known for breaking rules and sticking out and so i want the font i use to match the stereotype.
Helvetica- This type of text is too straight and boring. it does not stand out like i hoped.
Pepeta mt- this font is naturally small and squashed up and so it is difficult to understand. this is the reason i do not like this stype of font.
Weathered SF- i like this style of font as it is small, so i can fit a lot of text on the page and it is also a strong type of text, which makes it easy to read. I might use this style of font on my double page spread, as i will be able to fit more text on the page.
PosterBodoni BT- This style of font is naturally small and squashedup like the last but is more understandable. if i changes the size of the font i may concider using it.
Viner Hand ITC- This style of font seems very large and spacious. I like this font as it is not too fancy but still has something about it that draws the reader in.
Bauhaus 93- i like this font type as it is different. it stands out and this is what i want for my magazine but i think it is too bold.
Accord Heavy SF- this font is small and squashed up. this would work well on my double page spread as i would be able to fit more text onto the page.
This is what my magazine cover looks like. i think this magazine is affective, as the audience is grabbed by the look of the model. The model is looking straight ahead and so focus' on the audience. This magazine has one main image and smaller images along the bottom left hand corner. This shows the audience what is the most interesting thing in the magazine, a new up and coming artist.
 This is what my magazine contents page looks like. I like how i have created my contents page as some of the captions on the page link to a picture on the page. This makes it easier for the audience to understand what the magazine is about and where they can find all the infomation or fun facts. 
This is what my magazine double page spread looks like. I like this as it is not too bright and bold. using, dark colours, which contrasrs with the text on the page. i have used the red box to add a little colour to my work which i have used through out my magazine.

i have used this image for my cover.I like this image as the model is holding a guitar. the thing i had to change about this image it the eyes as they do not interact with the audience, as they are looking away. i like what my model is wearing in this image as it is eyecatching and is not normally what someone would wear. this image would be used on the cover to draw the reader in.
I could have used this image for my magazine. I like this image as the model looks very natural in this image. she is looking straight at the camera and she seems to be very relateable. i like what my model is wearing in this image as itshows my readers the more normal side to the model.
 I have used this image for my music magazine on the cover and double page spread. This image looks very sweet and inicent. I like this image as it shows a different side to my model. this would attract my readers as they would want to know about the model. who in my magazine is extreemly important.  I have used part of this image in my music magazine. I used this image for the boy in the image for my contents page as this adds varitety to the contents page as all of the other images in my magazine is. this makes the magazine more free as it is not just about one person. I male model in this image looks angery but is focusing all his attention on the audience. i thike this as it shows interaction.     |
